Buy grinders and abrasives. It's very good to polish stones with a grindstone. Compared with manual polishing, the grindstone can make the stone glossy better, and can grind many stones at one time.
Step 1
You can buy grinders from some online stores or Amazon. The prices of all kinds of grinders vary widely. You can buy them according to your own needs. We also need to buy Abrasives for stone polishing, including coarse (80), medium (220) and fine (400). If you just want to use it occasionally, just buy a cheap plastic grinder. If you want to polish stone as a new hobby, you can buy something more expensive.

Step 2
Select and classify stones. Classify the stones before polishing, so that the hardness and surface shape of the stones in the grinder are similar.Do not put stones with different hardness into the grinder at the same time, because stones with high hardness will wear and scratch soft stones. Similarly, don't put stones with different shapes together. For example, some shapes are uneven, while others are round, because round stones are easier to polish than irregular stones. Put stones of various sizes. This will make the shape of the stone more uniform.
Step 3
Put the stone into the grindstone and put it to ½-¾ Full. First wash the stone with soap and water. After washing, put stones of similar hardness and shape into the grinder. Then take out the stone and weigh it. Weigh and return to the grindstone.
Step 4
First put the coarse abrasive into the grindstone for grinding. Add 45 grams of abrasive per 450 grams of stone. Pour water into the grindstone until the stone is just gone. Close the lid and start the grindstone. After grinding for 24 hours, open it to see the situation. Then cover it again and start it again.
Grind for 3 to 7 days and check every 24 hours to ensure smooth progress.
Coarse gravel is used to make the shape of the stone smoother. Stones with rounder shapes can be polished to a good shape in about 3 days. Stones with different shapes may take about 7 days to polish the surface.
Check every 24 hours to let you see the progress of the stone. After inspection, you can know whether you can proceed to the next step or continue grinding.
Step 5
Take the stone out of the grinder. After 3 to 7 days, take the stone out of the grinder and put it on the plate. Clean the abrasive from the stone and clean the inside of the grinder. As the abrasive will block the sewer after solidification, do not flush the abrasive into the sink, but throw it into the trash can.
Thoroughly clean the stones and grinders until they are spotless. Even if a small amount of coarse gravel is left, the next step will be destroyed.
Step 6
Put the medium gravel into the grinder for grinding. Put the clean stone back into the grinder. Put in medium gravel equal to coarse gravel. Add clean water until just below the stone. Close the lid and start the grindstone. Grind for 4 or 5 days and check every 24 hours. After 4 or 5 days, turn off the grinder and open the cover. Put the stone in a container and clean the abrasive. Clean the stones and containers thoroughly again and discard the abrasive instead of flushing into the sewer.
Step 7
Grind with fine abrasive. Put the clean stone back into the grinder. Put in the same amount of fine gravel as coarse gravel and medium gravel. Pour in clean water until just below the stone. Then close the cover and start grinding. This process takes about seven days. Check progress every 24 hours. This is the last stage of grinding with abrasive, so don't shorten this time and grind until you are satisfied with the smoothness and gloss of the stone. When you check the progress of grinding, you may need to clean the stone to see the gloss.
Step 8
Clean stones and grinders. Thoroughly clean stones and grinders. Clean the abrasives in the corners of the grinder, otherwise it will affect the future use effect. After the abrasive on the stone is removed, you will see that the stone has become shiny.
Step 9
Perform final polishing. Sometimes, soft stones can't get the luster you want only by grinding. For stones with insufficient luster, leather and polishing agent shall be used for final treatment. Put a few drops of polish on a piece of leather and rub the whole surface of the stone. This will give the stone the luster you want!
